Philadelphia Resident To Face Felony Drunk Driving Charge

Some of our Philadelphia readers may remember a crash which occurred on Saint Vincent in which two people died. Now, as it turns out, one of the drivers in the crash will be facing felony drunk driving charges and is being held on $500,000 bail.

Philadelphia felony DUI lawyers would probably tell anyone that while most DUI arrests are misdemeanors and can usually result in little to no jail time, felony DUI arrests are a whole different ballgame. A felony DUI charge usually comes up if the alleged drunk driver has prior DUI arrests, or if there are some aggravating factors involved in the DUI allegations. In this case, the driver who is now being held will be facing a charge of Homicide by Vehicle while DUI – a charge which could lead to some very severe penalties.

According to the reports, the suspect in this case ran a red light when his vehicle then smashed into the victim’s car, which then caused the victim’s vehicle to crash head-on into a third vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger in the victim’s car were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The suspect, a 33-year-old Philadelphia resident, was not injured in the car accident.

Every type of arrest has the potential to cause enormously negative consequences, both in the short and long term, for the arrestee. However, when someone is facing a charge like the ones in this case, basically alleging that they are responsible for the deaths of two people, the details of the case can get extremely complicated. For this 33-year-old man, and anyone who may find themselves in this type of position, beginning to craft a criminal defense strategy as soon as possible can make all the difference in the outcome of the case.
